1. Create a Role with Administrator Privileges
This step is not a necessity if you want to add a bot to your Discord server. But it is still recommended that you follow this step if you wish to add multiple bots to your Discord server. This will save you from repetition. Here are the steps:
- Click on the Discord Server you’d like to add bots to.
- Click on the drop-down next to your server’s name on the top left of your screen.
- Click on Server Settings and then click on Roles.
- Click on “Create Role.
- Click on the Permissions Scroll down and turn on Administrator permissions.

2. Get a Bot of Your Liking
Instructions may vary depending on the bot. But it will be similar. So you will understand what to do anyway if you follow my example. As an example, I will show you how to add a bot called StudyLion. The steps are shown below.
- Visit the official website.
- Click on Invite the Bot.
- Select the server you would like to add bots to.
- Authorize administrator permission.
- Complete a captcha.

Manage Bots on Your Discord Server
This time I will use the MEE6 bot as an example to show you how to manage what a bot can do on your Discord server. I’ve already added the bot to one of my servers in a process similar to the one I’ve just described for StudyLion.
Now if you follow the steps again, you’ll find a “Go” option instead of an “Invite” or “Set-up” one. Click on Go. You will find various features to customize to your liking. Using the MEE6 bot, you can manage your own server. 
Click on the Dashboard option, scroll down, and check out all the features. Make the changes you think you would like to make. As an example, you can customize how a new member is welcomed, control the list of moderators, and create custom commands with the MEE6 bot.
