Why Should You Get Twitch Bits?

You should get Twitch bits as it is a virtual currency for the Twitch platform and can be used to cheer the streamers. Cheering the streamers makes the chat livelier, and streamers get some money too. You can also unlock custom emotes if the streamer is a Twitch Partner.

Twitch has come a long way since its inception in 2011. It has grown to be the largest and the most popular online streaming platform.

Twitch has created its own ecosystem between the streamers and viewers throughout the years. It has added many features and perks to the streaming ecosystem to enhance the experience.

One such feature is the Twitch bits. You can call it the official currency of the Twitch platform.

You can buy Twitch bits from the store and get them for free. Then you can spend the Twitch bits cheering your favorite streamers.

However, there is a catch. The streamer has to be a Twitch Affiliate or a Twitch Partner to receive Twitch bits.

Cheering a streamer means sending an animated emoji or emoticon to the live chat. It lights up the live chat, and streamers get around $0.01 per Twitch bit. Find out the best solutions to fix ublock won’t block twitch ads on Windows 11.

You can buy the Twitch bits from the store using regular online payment services like PayPal, credit cards, and such.

However, when you buy them from Twitch, the price is usually $1.4 per 100 Twitch bits unless there is a sale going on. So the buying price is slightly higher than what the streamers get to make some profit for Twitch.

An animated emoji is sent to the chat when you donate bits by cheering a streamer. The more bits you donate, the more animated the emoji gets. So, you can’t change the display name on Twitch? Quickly check our epic post to fix twitch error code 403.

Sometimes you will be able to choose from a set of special animated emotes or cheermotes. It is especially true for Twitch Partners as they have custom animated emojis.

Other viewers will see the emoji as you donate the Twitch bits. If you donate a relatively high amount, it will show your username for a long time.

But what if you don’t want to buy bits with real money, you can get them for free.

Previously, you could quickly get free bits by watching ads on Twitch. By clicking on the cheers icon and then on the Get Bits option, you would see an option to Watch Ads. Have some time to spare? Check out some awesome solutions to fix the twitch error code 995f9a12 on Xbox.

After watching an ad, Twitch would give you 5-10 bits. In this way, watching ads repetitively would enable you to collect a decent amount of bits.

However, Twitch removed the feature in June 2021. Twitch has replaced it with Multiplayer Ads, which I will discuss later in the post. Changing Twitch name color is a great way to gain a lot of audiences. Quickly check out our epic guide to find out how.

How To Get Free Bits On Twitch

Despite Twitch removing the feature of getting free bits through ads, there remains a viable option to get free bits.

Also, Twitch is adding another feature soon to get free bits. Find out how to check twitch chat logs from our epic post.

So let me guide you through these two methods.

Here are the steps to get free Twitch bits:

1. Use TwitchRPG surveys

TwitchRPG (Twitch Research Power Group) is an official hub of Twitch that works in the research and development of the Twitch ecosystem.

It typically researches to improve the Twitch features and develop new systems, make Twitch more diverse for its audience, and other things like voting on global emotes. So, your twitch following list is not working? Find out the cause and solutions to your problem real quick by checking our epic guide.

TwitchRPG needs a huge dataset to conduct research. As such, it regularly asks its users to fill up surveys. Once you finish the survey, TwitchRPG will reward you with Twitch bits.

The amount of surveys you will receive depends on your location. Some regions get fewer surveys than others, while others might not get any surveys. It totally depends on which region TwitchRPG is currently researching. So, your twitch app full screen is not working? So you have to make sure to make the right choice of the country during sign-up.

TwitchRPG will send you invites via email to participate in a survey. A survey typically consists of 5-15 minutes of watching a stream then answering some questions.

As a reward, Twitch will give you 100-500 Twitch bits, depending on the survey length and importance.

Also, you need to be quick to respond to a survey invite as Twitch takes only a limited number of people. If you are a new Twitch streamer, follow the step-by-step process to see followers on twitch.

Here’s the whole process:

  • Open your web browser and go to the website: https://rpg.Twitch.tv/hub
  • Click on ‘Join our community’ to start the signup process. twitchrpg-signup
  • Click on the Join button. Then click on Next. twitchrpg-join
  • Choose a country. Choosing a popular country like the US, Canada or UK gives you a higher chance of getting an invite.
  • Click on the Connect With Twitch button to connect the TwitchRPG account with Twitch. twitchrpg-connect
  • Log in to Twitch if not already.
  • Click on the Authorize button to finish connecting the Twitch account with TwitchRPG. twitchrpg-authorize
  • Answer the questions related to language, date of birth, gender, ethnicity, marital status, education, gaming habits, etc.
  • Provide name, email, and password. Use an email that you regularly check to avoid missing out on any survey invites.
  • Verify the email then sign in to TwitchRPG.
  • Scroll down and check the Latest Activities section from the left of the Dashboard to see any ongoing surveys. twitchrpg-latest
  • Wait for a survey invite. When you get a survey invite email, it will contain the details about the survey. It will also mention how many bits you will get as a reward.
  • Accept the survey invite and start the survey.
  • Go through the video carefully.
  • Answer the questions related to the video you just watched.
  • Receive the Twitch bits upon completing the survey.

You may not receive invites regularly as it is totally up to TwitchRPG how much data they need. Don’t know how to change twitch username? Follow the step-by-step process from our ultimate guide.

2. Use the Multiplayer Ad

Twitch removed the option where you could earn free bits through watching advertisements. Now Twitch is introducing Multiplayer Ads as an alternative to it.

Multiplayer Ads is a system where you can watch an ad live with other viewers. There will be a poll after the ad is over.

You would be able to choose your option or vote in the poll. You would also see in real-time what other viewers are voting for.

So, you applied for a password reset but somehow it’s showing errors? Quickly check out our epic guide to fix twitch password reset not working on Mobile.

Once the vote ends, the streamer will get Twitch bits as a donation. Hence, though the Twitch bits will not go to your wallet, they will fulfill the goal of supporting the streamer.

Therefore, participating in the Multiplayer Ad of your favorite streamer will ensure the streamer gets Twitch bits.

Multiplayer Ad is currently in closed beta, and it will gradually go public, starting with the Android and iOS app.

How To Donate Twitch Bits To Streamers?

Donating a Twitch bit to a streamer is relatively straightforward. But before that, there is something you need to keep in mind.

Only Twitch Affiliates and Twitch Partners can receive the Twitch bits donation as of now. So you need to ensure the streamer is either an Affiliate or a Partner.

Secondly, if you cannot donate Twitch bits, most likely, the streamer has not enabled the cheering feature. Twitch bits donation is made as part of cheering, so turning off cheer will disable Twitch bits donation too.

If your twitch hosting is not working, you should tweak some settings to fix the auto-host problems by reading our separate post.

A streamer can enable the cheering option by going to Partner Settings or Channel under Creator Dashboard.

With that said, follow the steps below to donate Twitch bits:

  • Open your browser and go to Twitch.
  • Open the channel of the streamer you want to contribute to.
  • Go to the stream chatbox.
  • Type the word ‘cheer’ followed by the number of bits you want to donate. For example, if you’re going to donate 500 bits, type ‘cheer500’.
  • Press Enter to donate the bits.

You can also use the bits menu to select the emoji or cheermotes. Some channels have custom cheermotes and gem icons. Due to a corrupted cache on the browser, many users faced the twitch failed to load module error.  You can jump into our post to learn everything about it in detail.twitch-bits

Final Thoughts

Twitch is a great platform to get entertained and engage with live streamers.

To show your support to the streamers, you can donate Twitch bits which is the de-facto currency of Twitch.

You can always buy Twitch bits for real money, but you can sometimes get them for free too.

The primary way to get free bits is to fill up surveys on the TwitchRPG website.
