Another thing to remember is that there will be no HTTPS/HTTP at the beginning of the link, as the whole link will be shown as text. So if you encounter a Nitro Gift URL that is marked in blue or underlined, the chances are that it will redirect you to a phishing site.

If you received the link outside of Discord, you might have to log in first and then proceed to claim it. If the gift link is shared in a server with many active users, then the first person to click on it will get the Nitro.

What happens when you click on a fake Nitro Link?
After clicking on a fake Nitro link, a browser window will open, leading you to a phishing site. If you don’t check the URL, you might not even notice it’s fake. There, a popup would show up telling you to log in. Some claimed that their PC was infected with malware the moment they clicked the link.

Does Nitro Gift Link Expire?
Yes, Nitro Gift links expire. Every real Nitro link will have an active timer. If someone sends you a Nitro link, you will have exactly 48 hours to claim it. If it’s not claimed within due time, the link will become invalid. 
The only way is to ask the sender to create another link and throw it your way.
When someone sends you a link claiming to give you free Nitro, you should always check for the timer. Some fake Nitro Gifts use the real one’s picture to imitate it.
So make sure the timer is real and not just some screenshot.
Can you see who gifted you Discord Nitro?
When someone sends you a legit Nitro Gift, the sender’s ID will be embedded in the link. So, you will immediately find out who gifted you. But you will only be shown info about the sender’s Discord profile. If you don’t know the real person behind the ID, then there’s no way for you to find out.

Can you gift yourself Nitro?
No, you can’t gift yourself Nitro. Although there are no rules saying you can’t but many people have tried in the past, and results show that it can’t be done. When you buy a Nitro for yourself without knowing this, the only option left for you is to either refund or give it to someone else.
But technically speaking, you can gift yourself Nitro. You would have to open another Discord account and send the Gift link. Although it’s a roundabout way of getting a Nitro, a way nonetheless.
Is Discord.gift legit?
Discord.gift is legit. Any other links that look similar are fake ones created with the intention to scam innocent people. Therefore, you should always observe the link before proceeding to open it.
But that doesn’t mean you should click any link that has this URL. You can manipulate the link and redirect it to other sites. It isn’t that difficult, and many use this method to Rickroll others.
For example, this link discord.com will redirect you to Youtube instead of Discord. So I would advise you to stay away from suspicious links at all times.
