If you want to block someone on Yahoo, simply add their email addresses to the Blocked addresses list, which you’ll find in the Security and privacy section of Yahoo Settings. This list is available for both Yahoo Classic and Basic versions.

1. Block Email Addresses on Yahoo Classic
You can block email addresses by adding them to the Blocked addresses list. You can also select the email from the sender you want to block from the Inbox and block them from there.
Here’s how to block email addresses on Yahoo Classic:
- Open your browser on the computer and go to yahoo.com.
- Sign in to your Yahoo account.
- Click on Mail at the top-right corner.
- Select Settings and click on More Settings.
- Choose Security and privacy from the left sidebar.
- Click on the Add button in the Blocked addresses section.
- Type the email address you want to block and click on Save.

Follow the steps below to block email addresses from the Yahoo Inbox:
- Go to mail.yahoo.com and open Inbox.
- Choose an email from the sender you want to block.
- Click on 3 dots (More options) and select Block senders.
- Check Block all future emails and click on OK.
2. Block Email Addresses on Yahoo Basic
Similar to the classic, the basic version of Yahoo also has a Blocked addresses list, and you can add email addresses to block certain users.
Here’s the process to block email addresses on Yahoo Basic:
- Open Yahoo Mail on your browser and sign in.
- Choose Settings from the dropdown options on the top-right and click on the Go button.
- Select Blocked Addresses from the left menu.
- Write the email address you want to block in the Blocked addresses text field and click on Add.

How to Block an Email Sender on Yahoo Mail for Mobile
Unfortunately, there’s no direct way to block someone on the Yahoo Mail mobile app. However, as a workaround, you can create a filter that takes emails from the sender and moves them directly into the Trash folder. After 7 days, the emails will be permanently deleted.
Follow the steps below to make a filter that moves emails to Trash from certain users and deletes the emails automatically.
Here are the steps to block an Email sender on Yahoo Mail for Mobile:
- Launch the Yahoo Mail app on your Android or iPhone.
- Press your profile icon at the top-left corner.
- Choose Settings.
- Tap on Filters from the General section.
- Pick your email address.
- Tap on the Plus icon at the top-right corner.
- Provide a suitable Filter Name.
- Type the email address you want to block under Sender, and make sure to choose Contains from the dropdown Don’t change anything else.
- Tap on Inbox on the bottom-left and choose Trash.
- Press the checkmark to save the filter.

How to Unblock Email Addresses in Yahoo Mail
To unblock users in Yahoo, you just have to remove their email addresses from the Blocked addresses list in the Security and privacy section of Yahoo Settings. And if you are using Yahoo Mail on mobile, delete the filter that’s putting the emails into Trash.
Below I’ve described how to remove addresses from the Blocked addresses list and explained the method to delete a filter from the Yahoo Mail app.
Here’s how to unblock email addresses in Yahoo Mail:
On Windows & Mac
- Open your browser and go to mail.yahoo.com.
- Click on Settings at the top-right corner and select More Settings.
- Go to the Security and privacy tab.
- Click on the Bin icon (Delete blocked sender) to unblock an email address.
On Android & iOS
- Launch the Yahoo Mail app on your mobile device.
- Tap on your profile icon.
- Select Settings.
- Press Filters in the General section.
- Choose your email address.
- Tap on the filter you want to delete.
- Scroll down and press the Delete filter button.
- Select OK to confirm the deletion process.
From now on, the emails that the filter was moving to the Trash folder will go into the Inbox.
