Why Are You Not Seeing Any Voltage Switch on Your PSU?
Don’t be surprised or disappointed if you are not seeing any manual voltage switch on your power supply unit. It’s because not every PSU comes with this kind of voltage switch.
Are you worried about how the PSU works without the voltage switch?
Well, this type of PSU automatically detects the incoming input voltage and adjusts the power or current under a specific range by itself. It is sort of an automatic internal process. So you don’t need to change it manually every time.
If you are a bit lazy, this type of PSU will be very handy for you.
Is it good or bad not to have that switch? Keep reading, as you’ll find that later in this article.

What Should You Do If the PSU Doesn’t Come with a Voltage Switch?
To be honest, there is nothing you can do except take some precautions and take good care of your PSU.
If you wish to know more about your PSU, check the packaging and the manual guide that comes with it. Reading it before setting the PSU on your computer will be a good idea.
Additionally, you can check online and talk with the manufacturer’s helpline desk. From there, you will briefly know more about the power supply unit. Moreover, you can use a converter to regulate the voltage.
In case the supply voltage is improperly set, you must reset the PSU. Turn off the PC, and unplug all the cables that are connected.
Give it a rest for five to ten minutes. Replug the cables as they were before. Turn on the PC. The voltage will now flow with the correct amount.

What Is a Power Supply Voltage Switch?
The power supply voltage switch is an additional switch in the PSU which lets you change the supply voltage on your computer. Some users even call it a voltage selector switch.
Generally, you will find this small red-colored switch on the back of the power supply units. You can interchange the voltage between 110/115V and 220/230V. But the switching depends on the amount of power your country provides.
An example will be a little bit helpful. Let’s say you live in the USA. In that case, you must keep the voltage to 110 /115 / 120V. Any less or more than that, your PSU won’t run & you won’t be able to operate your PC.
If you live in a European country like France, you must keep the voltage setting to 230V to run the PSU.

Is It Good Or Bad If the PSU Has No Voltage Switch?
There is no actual answer to that question. Both sides have positive and negative perspectives.
The good side is you will not require to change the voltage by yourself. It will automatically balance by itself and deliver your PC the right amount of power to operate.
You might wonder what will happen if the voltage selector switch is configured at the wrong setting. Well, at this stage, you should be worried.
If the power outlet provides power to the PSU more than it can handle, like it requires 110V and gets 220V, it can damage your PSU, including other PC components.
On the other hand, if the power outlet provides less power than it requires, like the requirement is 220V and it’s receiving 110V, the PSU won’t be able to turn on the PC.
Talking about the bad side, you won’t be able to adjust the voltage if you move from the USA to France or other European countries.
The worst case will be if the PSU is designed to operate at one specific voltage. In that case, due to the high load of voltage, your PC components, like the motherboard, GPU etc., can get damaged.

FAQs
Do all PSU have a voltage switch?
The simple answer is No. All PSUs don’t have a manual voltage switch with them. Currently, EVGA, Antec, CORSAIR, Seasonic, FSP, HP, and Thermaltake PSUs with voltage switches are available on the market.
What Happens if I Run the PSU at the Wrong Voltage?
If you run the PC at the wrong voltage, the PSU won’t be able to turn on as long as it receives less power than it needs. Damage to the PSU and other PC components might occur if the PSU is exposed to more power than it is able to manage.
